How Orders and Sessions are Attributed

How TestSignal Attributes Orders & Sessions to Experiments

To ensure accurate and fair measurement across all experiment types, TestSignal attributes sessions and orders based on where the test is running:

  • Price, Image, and Description Testing
Total sessions = Product Sessions for the specific products selected for testing.
Orders counted = Only orders from the products included in the test.

  • Theme & Layout Testing
Total sessions = Store Sessions, since the entire storefront experience is being tested.
Orders counted follow standard storefront-level attribution.

  • Shipping Testing
Total sessions = Checkout Sessions, since the variation is applied during the checkout process.
Orders counted = Only orders completed after customers see the tested shipping option.

Heads Up! Important Attribution Rule

If a buyer added a product to their cart before the test started, any resulting order from that cart will not be counted in your experiment results.

This ensures each experiment only measures sessions and purchases influenced by the variation, providing clean, accurate, and trustworthy test results.
